2001-08-17 – 2001-10-31 To the friends of nature and arts

The exhibition “To the Friends of Nature and Arts” was opened to visitors between 17 August and 31 October 2001 and was located in old gothic cellars of the Castle Museum in Pszczyna dating back to the first half of the 15th century which were exceptionally opened to visitors first time for over 20 years. The exhibition was dedicated to the Garden Kingdom of Desau-Wörlitz, which was created according to the visionary concept of the enlightened absolutism monarch, Prince Franciszek von Anhalt-Dessau (1740-1817). It was prepared in cooperation with Kulturstiftung Dessau-Wörlitz (Dessau-Wörlitz Cultural Foundation) – the owner of the works, Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen (the Institute for Foreign Cultural Relations), and the Goethe-Institut in Warsaw. The exhibition consisted of four parts:

Landscape.
The culture of Anhalt-Dessau.
The four sesons.
There were drawings of historical views and photographs of the present state of the price’s gardens and garden architecture, sculptures, plans, plans of gardens and buildings, objects from a collection of Prince Franciszek von Anhalt-Dessau, e.g. collection of fruits and impressions of antique cameos. The exhibition was accompanied with a carefully prepared catalogue in German and English languages, supplemented with Polish text. The curator of the exhibition was Ms. Cecylia Gałaszek, MA.
